Wine Cork Christmas Tree

This summer I was gifted a bag of wine corks. About 300 of them. The next step, Google wine cork crafts and I saved them to my Pinterest. Such an overwhelming amount of projects to sort through. Since my mind has a tendency to go big, I knew I had to keep it small if I was going to complete the project.  I came across this project and 'tis the season, so Christmas Tree it is!

It is a fairly easy craft once you gather your materials.

1. Hot glue wine corks in the shape of a tree.  This was the most challenging part for me. Hot glue and I are not friends.  I use a minigun, so I'm not sure if that has any effect on my gluing abilities. Glue your base of 5 corks together and once the glue is set you can move on to the next row. NOTE: I had some blah corks and I used them as the bottom because that side would not be seen.

2. With a 3/4 punch, I punched circles from a variety of papers. If you have a nice printer you can easily make what you fancy. If not, picking up paper from your craft store is a nice alternative. I recommend wrapping paper due to the gloss and thinness.  I used just a basic craft glue to attach the circles.

3. Now for the fun. Decorate. I used a few buttons, tiny pearl embellishments, a ribbon, and more paper. I have a Cricut so it was easy to cut out "joy"(red cardstock), the banner (vellum), and the star (glitter card stock).  I used a straight pin to secure the star... gluing 2 stars together with the pin glued in between,

Not everyone has access to that so I made a cheat sheet.  Print on cardstock and use as is or use them as a template to trace on any paper you like.
